A ceremony to mark the opening session of the State Legislative Assembly is held every year at the Bangunan Sultan Ibrahim Johor Bahru. The building once housed the August Assembly. HRH Sultan Ibrahim insists the ceremony to be held at Bangunan Sultan Ibrahim although the Assembly now sits at the new Bangunan Iskandar in Iskandar Puteri. HRH is adamant that Bangunan Sultan Ibrahim is symbolic of the seat of the Johor government.

The JMF mounts the guard of honour with 105 officers and other ranks. The JMF Band with 35 Bandsmen is in attendance.

PROGRAM SCHEDULE

• The arrival of HRH the Crown Prince is greeted with the present arms (Hormat Mahkota) salute.
• The arrival of HRH the Sultan is greeted with a Royal Salute and the State Anthem Lagu Bangsa Johor.
• HRH the Sultan inspects the guard of honour.
• HRH the Sultan receives the Royal Salute and the Johor National Anthem is played marking the end of ceremony.

The JMF deploys 10 men for guard duties daily during the assembly sessions.
