In the history of the Sultanate of Johor, Sultan Abu Bakar celebrated the Royal Anniversary, which is the anniversary of the day he ascended the royal throne. The last time he celebrated it was at Tanjong Palace, Muar, in 1895.

DYMM Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar graciously consented to the celebration of his birthday, which falls on November 22, and it was held on March 23 due to the unpredictable weather conditions in November.

A total of 105 officers and other ranks of JMF participated in the honor guard parade.

The arrival of DYAM Tunku Mahkota was greeted with the Crown Salute.

The JMF Band unit, consisting of 35 members, played the Johor National Anthem four times during the ceremony.

  1. When welcoming the arrival of DYMM Tuanku.
  2. During the royal honor guard saluting after DYMM Tunku concluded the inspection of the parade.
  3. Before DYMM Tuanku takes the throne.
  4. Before DYMM Tuanku departs, indicating the end of the ceremony.

In addition to that, a total of 50 officers and other ranks of JMF served during the People's Tea Reception held in the afternoon at Dataran Bandaraya. The JMF band welcomed the arrival and departure of DYMM Tuanku with the Johor National Anthem. The band also entertained the event with selected songs.

In addition to the ceremony at Istana Besar, the Honor Guard Parade of JMF also conducted a ceremony in conjunction with the Birthday Celebration of DYMM Tuanku in the Royal Town of Muar twice, on November 22, 2012, and November 22, 2013.
