Captain (B) Osman Bin Daud was born in Batu Pahat in 1913. He received his education at the Malay School of Bandar Penggaram and the Govt. English School in Batu Pahat. After completing his studies in 1928, he worked at the Batu Pahat Survey Office.<\/span><\/p>\n

In March 1933, he joined the ATSNJ as a Private and was assigned to the 'Mesen Gun' unit. As a diligent member, dedicated and unwaveringly loyal to the unit, he successfully climbed the ladder of success with promotions starting from 1935 as a Lance Corporal and subsequently reaching the rank of Captain in 1963 until his retirement in 1968.<\/span><\/p>\n

During his service, he contributed his skills to ATSNJ by participating in various shooting competitions. In 1937, he joined the ATSNJ shooting team 'Mesen Gun,' and this team won the 'TALALA SHIELD.' Other participants came from Burma, Siam, Singapore, and several states in Malaya. He also took part in parades during the celebrations of the King's Birthday in Singapore almost every year, where the ATSNJ parade always garnered attention and praise for their neatness, briskness, smartness, and high discipline.<\/span><\/p>\n

When news of the Japanese military attack in 1941 was received, ATSNJ members were requested to assist by the British, and Captain Osman Bin Daud also contributed by providing services to establish control and build fortifications at small airfields in Jamaluang, Kluang, and Tanjung Labuh in Batu Pahat.<\/span><\/p>\n

Considering his contribution to ATSNJ, Captain Osman Bin Daud (then holding the rank of C.S.M) was chosen to represent the ATSNJ in a grand parade in London, known as the 'Victory Parade,' on June 8, 1946, along with four other members of the ATSNJ. The recognition given by the British for the contribution and role of ATSNJ truly added to the excellence of ATSNJ's contribution. In that parade, the ATSNJ contingent marched alongside soldiers from dozens of other countries, totaling nearly 21,000 soldiers. King George himself paid tribute, and Sultan Ibrahim himself witnessed the parade. While in London, Captain Osman Bin Daud had the opportunity to speak on the BBC London radio and secured the 4th place in a writing competition about his experiences in London.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 1951, he was selected to attend the 'Jungle Training' course, became an instructor in the squad, and had the opportunity to participate in a course at the Artillery Unit, Belakang Mati, Singapore, in 1959.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 1968, he retired from JMF.<\/span><\/p>\n
